"I just wanted to let you know that I am enjoying my experience here. It is challenging and interesting at the same time. I am growing a lot and I am glad I came. God is truly blessing. So, please continue to keep all the missionaries in Korea in your prayers. May God bless you!"

"I have now traveled by bus, train, plane, taxi, and car. I am hoping that during my next break I will be able to travel by boat... My friends and I live in different parts of S. Korea but spend our breaks traveling together... This last break was a retreat to Deer Mountain planned by the institute. It was a lot of fun. We crossed a river on foot which is a lot harder than it seems. The rocks were so slippery and the current was strong..."

"South Korea is a wonderful place for the whole family to serve the Lord. We always felt very safe and welcome. There are so many fun places to go and beautiful things to see. Most of all, we loved having the opportunity to serve the Korean people and share the love of God with them. We can honestly say we loved the time we spent in South Korea and highly recommend it to everyone. May God Bless you as you seek to serve Him! "From 1998-1999 I taught Conversational English and Bible at SDA Language Institutes in Seoul Korea. My experience was beneficial socially, and spiritually. Socially, I became more aware of different cultures. Interacting with my students I found out about Korean cultures and customs. Also there were several teachers there from other countries and islands, South Africa, Samoa, Jamaica and Bermuda. During semester breaks I was able to explore other parts of Korea and visit Thailand and China for a short time.

Each semester I taught Bible. The Bible classes were generally small but the atmosphere was always encouraging. I learned a great deal about the Bible. During one term my class read the book of Proverbs. The words of wisdom contained in each verse were great lessons for the entire class including me. I also learned from my students who were quite creative themselves coming up with several proverbs of their own that related to the texts we read.

I would definitely recommend volunteering in Korea to anyone who is open to working with a diverse staff, learning about other cultures, and willing explore the Bible and share their SDA experience with others.

You can call me at 415-401-8723 if you have any questions about my experience in Korea."
