EATING KOREAN FOOD At 7:00 PM KASA (Korean-American Student Association) offered Korean dish-bibibbab, jabche, hodduck, fried vegitables, and drinks at Burman Hall Cafereria, Andrews University.

KOREAN CULTURAL PERFORMANCE At 9:00 PM KASA presented Korean Cultural Performance, including Korean songs, fac dances, takwondo exercise, takwondo breaking demonstration, ladies modern dances, and other programs -- all showed the fresh young vitality of Koreans at Burman Hall Auditorium, Andrews University.

At 7:00 PM, KASA (Korean-American Student Association), Andrews University) provided the Korean Food, BiBibBab, Hodduk, fried vegitables, jabche and drinks at the Burman Hall Cafeteria.

At 9:00 PM, KASA presebted Korean songs, fan dances, Tae Kwon Do, and many other programs to share the Korean cultures with those who came to the Korean Culture Night.

Andrews Korean Church presented Korean Nighnt at 7:00 PM, at Howard Performing Arts Center, Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michagan 49104, USA. They presented Korean Fork songs, Korean fan dance, and various programs. Among the auciences, we found many Korean War veterans who sacrificed their lives for Korea. Without them there would be no Koreans today. We appreciate a lot for their services in Korean War. Thus Andrews Korean Church presents Korean Night near the Veterance day every year.

Sumary of presentation:

Since 1969, SDA Language School (SDALS—former name was SDA Language Institute), operates under the supervision of the Korean Union Conference, the Northern Asia-Pacific Division and the General Conference.

SDLIS is well known in South Korean society as one of the leading language Schools in Korea. We have gained the respect of the people in Korea because of the dedication, honesty and outstanding qualifications of our mission-minded native English speaking teachers who carry out our systematic class procedures and implement effective methods of teaching but most of all sharing the gospel of Jesus.

Today, we have 40 branches (38 in South Korea, 1 in the Philippines, 1 in Mongolia) with over 55,000-60000 students enrolling each term. We baptize 1200 souls a year. We need at least 350 missionaries each year to meet the need, but we have about 200 missionaries. Because we do not have enough teachers, so many Koreans are just waiting for opening. Could you help?

How can I help this mission?  Pray; let people know this opportunity; find qualified people around you and help them go; go, if you are qualified.

Who can accomplish this mission? A baptized Seventh-day Adventist, At least 20 years old, including retirees, A bachelor's degree (any major), Native English speaker and A Citizen of Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, South Africa, or United States.

What benefits do you provide to a missionary?  To name a few: a monthly stipend (approx $1600-2100), 59 paid holidays a year and free round trip plane tickets (for 1-year contracts), a furnished apartment with all utility expenses paid, insurance (medical, dental, accidents), one month bonus pay for each full year of service.

Can I go shorter than a year?  Yes, you can choose months to serve 2 to 10 month and dates of arrival. 2007dates: February 22, April 23, June 21, August 23, October 22, and December 24.

Can I be a missionary only during summer or winter?  Yes, this is special arrangement because of great demands.  This year June 21-August 30 and December 24 –February 28, 2008—we provide return air ticket and monthly stipend of $1300 and all other benefits.

Pastor Japhet De Oliveira will serve in the position of chaplain for missions as well as assistant director for the Center for Youth Evangelism.

Pastor Japhet De Oliveira

De Oliveira comes to Andrews from England where he has served as Youth Director for the South England Conference of Seventh-day Adventists since 2003. He is an energetic and innovative leader with a passion for young people. During his time as youth director and as a youth pastor for the Stanborough Park Church in Watford, England, De Oliveira began multiple youth ministry initiatives. Just a sampling of his work includes projects such as London Live, a new 20/30-something church led by young adults in the city of London; HUB, a monthly journal for youth ministry leaders across England; and the new Diploma in Youth Leadership program at Newbold College in Binfield, England.

De Oliveira earned his BA in theology and an MA in Religion with a certificate in church growth from Andrews University on the Newbold College campus.

"If I can be part of a team that makes a difference to both those connected with and searching for God, I will be a satisfied man," says De Oliveira about his new role at Andrews. "At the end of the day when I look back on my life, I want to know that I served well, played hard, that my boys and wife are proud of me and that God inspired my leadership. Honestly, what more is there?"

De Oliveira will join the Andrews community with his wife, Becky, and their two young boys.
